Noctua NH-P1 Passive CPU Cooler
- Cooler Height: 152
With the NH-P1, Noctua presents its first passive CPU cooler. This cooler was designed from the ground up for fanless operation and provides efficient cooling through natural convection. A total of six heatpipes transfer the waste heat to particularly thick cooling fins with wide spacing. With the NH-P1, processors with low to medium heat output can be cooled completely silently. Additionally, the installation of an optional 120 mm fan is supported, which allows for handling short load spikes or operation in semi-passive systems.
The features of the Noctua NH-P1 at a glance:
Passive CPU cooler for completely silent cooling
Baseplate and heatpipes made of nickel-plated copper
Optional installation of a 120 mm fan for semi-passive operation
Includes premium NT-H2 thermal compound
Secure mounting with SecuFirm2+ mounting kit
High compatibility with Intel and AMD CPUs
Noctua NH-P1: silent passive cooler for CPUs
The NH-P1 has been specifically developed for passive cooling without moving parts. Thanks to its thick cooling fins with especially wide spacing, it achieves both a high mass and minimal airflow resistance. Both of these properties combine to deliver efficient cooling by means of natural convection.
Fully passively cooled systems operate silently and therefore eliminate distracting sources of noise, greatly improving concentration. In addition, passive systems benefit from high reliability and reduced dust accumulation inside the case.
With its asymmetrical design, the NH-P1 heatsink is slightly offset toward the top edge of the motherboard. This allows full use of the upper PCIe slot on Micro-ATX and ATX motherboards and ensures good compatibility with various RAM modules. Even modules with tall heatspreaders can be used on Intel LGA 115x / 1200 / 1700 and AMD AM4 / AM5 sockets without issues. On LGA 2066 sockets, memory with a maximum height of 45 mm should be used, as the cooler extends over the left memory banks.
Suitable processors and accessories
Noctua recommends using the NH-P1 with processors that have low to moderate heat output. In case passive cooling performance needs to be enhanced, the installation of an extra 120 mm fan is supported. This helps balance out load spikes. A PWM-controlled fan is recommended so it activates only when needed. The necessary fan mounting clips are included in the package.
The cooler comes with the TORX-based SecuFirm2+ mounting kit, letting you securely and conveniently install the NH-P1 on various Intel and AMD processors. To ensure efficient thermal transfer from the heatspreader to the heatsink, Noctua includes the premium NT-H2 thermal compound. Also included are a suitable screwdriver and a practical cleaning cloth for wiping down the heatspreader. The manufacturer also provides a six-year warranty.
Attention! The Noctua NH-P1 is intended for the passive cooling of processors with low to moderate heat output. The processors should also not be overclocked. For efficient natural convection, a special case with sufficient fresh air supply or additional active cooling may be required. A complete list of recommended processors and cases can be found on the manufacturer's website.
Note: For installation on motherboards with AMD sockets, the factory-installed original backplate of the motherboard is required.
