The Ducky One 3 Aura Black in mini format in detail
The mechanical gaming keyboard Ducky One 3 was developed to offer you the best possible typing experience. High-quality throughout and tuned for short response times, the Ducky One 3 offers gamers and keyboard enthusiasts a luxurious typing feel. In addition, the switches are not soldered, but mounted on sockets. This makes them easy to swap out without soldering.
The version of the Ducky One 3 offered here comes in a mini form factor. The smallest variant does away entirely with the numpad, navigation keys, arrow keys, and function keys. As a result, it takes up the least space on your desk, but is primarily suitable for advanced users and passionate gamers who know exactly what they need.
Mechanical switches in detail: Cherry MX Silent Red
This version uses Cherry MX Silent Red switches. These require low actuation force and have no tactile bump. A tactile bump is not absolutely necessary for action-heavy games like first-person shooters, as the keys are often pressed all the way down in the heat of battle. The Cherry MX Silent Red switches are similar in feel to rubber dome keyboards. Thanks to their rubber dampers, they are significantly quieter compared to standard mechanical switches and are therefore also ideal for office use, voice chat, and streaming.
QUACK Mechanics
With this keyboard, the manufacturer introduces its design philosophy QUACK Mechanics. Ducky considers four essential aspects that are crucial for the typing experience: keycaps, housing, sound, and stabilizers.
That's why this version of the Ducky One 3 offers high-quality keycaps made of polycarbonate (PC). The pudding keycaps are transparent on the bottom and coated black on the top, with the legends punched out. Ducky molds the keycaps from two layers of plastic. The double-shot process ensures longer durability.
Low-profile housing and soft sound
A common criticism of mechanical keyboards is their bulkiness. The newly developed housing of the Ducky One 3 is flatter than its predecessors and, together with the three-stage feet, relieves the wrist.
To improve sound and typing feel, Ducky tested a total of 17 different rubber compounds and selected the most suitable variant for the Q-Bounce pad. This is combined with an additional foam layer made of EVA to effectively dampen resonance and hard keystrokes while typing.
