The Foscam PD8 is a WLAN security camera for outdoor use with a resolution of 8 MP (3840 × 2160) and an integrated CMOS sensor for stable image quality under different lighting conditions. For motion detection, in addition to classic analysis, a millimeter-wave radar is used to detect human movement more precisely and reduce false alarms caused by environmental influences. Complementarily, software-based detection of people and vehicles is performed for targeted event evaluation. The camera features a motorized pan and tilt function with automatic tracking of detected objects within the field of view. For data transmission, WiFi 6 with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz is supported, as well as an alternative wired LAN connection. Night vision is available either via infrared with a range of up to 20 meters or via integrated lighting for color image display in the dark. A built-in siren and light signals are used for deterrence when events are detected. In addition, a two-way audio function for direct communication is integrated. For storage, local options are available via a microSD card up to 512 GB, as well as network and cloud solutions. Setup is done via an app with Bluetooth and QR code support. The housing meets the IP66 protection class and is designed for operation at temperatures from −20 °C to +60 °C.
